The Town of Conception Bay South (CBS) is situated on the Northeast
Avalon Peninsula, approximately 20 kilometres from St. John’s,
Newfoundland and Labrador’s capital city. The Town, incorporated in
1973, is one of the province’s newest municipalities made up of some of
Newfoundland’s oldest settlements.
This progressive Town, the largest in Newfoundland and Labrador, is home
to just over 21,000 people who support a thriving business community
consisting of about 450 businesses. Conception Bay South is located on
the south side of Conception Bay and residents enjoy one of the best
climates in the province with less wind, fog, snow and rain than
surrounding areas on the peninsula. The Town combines urban and rural
living, has quiet family-oriented neighbourhoods, and many of the
amenities of a large town. There are excellent recreational facilities,
walking trails, 20 km of scenic coastline and commanding views of
popular Conception Bay.
CBS is a clean, active and good-looking town - a great place to live and
a great place for tourists to visit. This is thanks to a number of
initiatives in place including, but not limited to, the fast-track
identification and removal of dilapidated buildings, a rotating bulk
garbage removal system, working in partnership with organizations in
community clean ups, enlisting the help of active volunteer groups, and
the preservation and restoration of heritage sites.
The town’s Pride in Your Community Committee are very active and
continually issue challenges to ensure the Town of Conception Bay South
remains clean and beautiful!
