When we ran out of floor tile during the kitchen remodel, it was mosaics to the rescue. The result was so successful that mosaics soon popped up in up in the garden, as inlays in the concrete patio, part of the fireplace, on flower pots, columns, and most recently, on stairs.

The stairs were featured in Better Homes and Gardens in September, 2005, and Better Homes and Gardens commissioned me to make several other pieces for the article. It turned out to be one of their most popular mosaics stories ever, and I received email from their readers for more than a year after the article ran. The story inspired a school to make similar pieces to sell as fundraisers, and in Spring, 2006, I was invited to give a mosaic workshop in Vermilion, OH as a fundraiser for their beautification program. People came from four states, and the Cleveland Plain Dealer newspaper ran an extensive feature on my mosaics.

The bench was featured in Gardens, Decks, and Landscapes in Spring, 2006.
